VAW 2026 | Launch of the VIAC Financial Dispute Resolution Division & VIFC Symposium 2026

GENERAL INTRODUCTION

In the context of global financial markets increasingly shaped by globalization, capital liberalization, digital transformation, and the emergence of new financial models, disputes in the financial sector have continued to grow in scale, nature, and complexity. Many disputes have evolved beyond isolated cases into multi-layered structures involving multiple parties, complex transaction chains, and cross-border elements, thereby placing greater demands on mechanisms for dispute prevention, management, and resolution.

As the Vietnam International Financial Centre (VIFC) continues to take shape and develop as a key component of the national financial ecosystem, the establishment of an effective, specialized, and internationally aligned dispute resolution infrastructure becomes a critical factor in strengthening market confidence and ensuring the sustainability of financial activities. At the same time, the rise of digital finance, digital assets, and innovative transaction models is generating new categories of disputes, requiring adaptive legal frameworks and dispute resolution mechanisms.

Within the framework of Vietnam ADR Week 2026 (VAW 2026), the event “Launch of the VIAC Financial Dispute Resolution Division & VIFC Symposium 2026” is designed as a multi-stakeholder platform bringing together policymakers, legal experts, investors, and business representatives. The programme focuses on (i) the role of dispute resolution infrastructure within the VIFC ecosystem; (ii) identifying disputes arising in international financial centres and relevant international experience; and (iii) key practical issues, including capital flows and dispute risks, dispute prevention and risk management mechanisms, the role of arbitration and ADR, as well as emerging trends such as green finance and regulatory sandboxes for financial innovation.

On this occasion, the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) will also officially launch its specialized Financial Dispute Resolution Division, marking an important step in its development strategy toward delivering highly specialized dispute resolution services that are better aligned with the specific characteristics of financial transactions and responsive to evolving market demands.
